BRAND NEW COURSE!
Host: IrishMusicTeacher.com
Eight 60-minute classes via Zoom, 5:30-6:30 pm ET
Wednesdays Jan. 28 - March 18, 2026. $200
There's more to the blind Irish harper Turlough O'Carolan (1670-1738) than the handful of his compositions that show up at sessions. This class starts with one of the better-known ones, "Planxty Hewlett," and then quickly moves on to nine more that you might never have heard before.

One reason some O'Carolan tunes aren't often played is that they're in keys that are tough or impossible for some standard session instruments. So I have transposed several of the tunes to more accommodating keys.

We'll learn the tunes by ear in class, but I'll also send out recordings and notated music for all of them. These are quirky and unpredictable, so the notation will come in handy if you can read it.

Recommended: At least two years' experience on your instrument. All melodic instruments welcome (including harps, of course!).

The class meetings will be recorded, and students will have access to the recordings for at least three weeks after the class.
