From the silly to the dark, from bubbly to the sardonic, from the blatant to the subtle, “funny” can mean many things in Irish culture. One thing you can be sure of: Blending Ireland’s unsurpassed gifts for melody and language has led to a lot of great comic songs over the centuries.
In this workshop we’ll mostly be listening to great recordings of many varieties of “funny.” Some examples are from long tradition, while others are more recent. Lyrics will be provided for all the songs (both to help you listen, and in case you want to learn them yourself later).
At the end of the 90-minute workshop, we’ll learn a song together, and I’ll provide both lyrics and guitar chords for that one.
The workshop will be recorded, and the recording will remain available for one month after the live date.
